There’s “moving Wes” footage, isn’t there? I’m astonished. Since the full extent of Wes’s European tour hasn’t been fully uncovered, there are recordings made that we don’t know about. The effort by those involved in discovering these recordings is commendable.

In March 1965, Wes came to Brussels, Belgium, and appeared on TV. He performed five songs on a 30-minute short program called “Jazz Prisma” (or maybe “Prism”). This video was released by an American record store, “Stefan Grossman’s Guitar Workshop,” under the Vestapol label. Interestingly, this small company, which also released “JAZZ 625” from VAP Records, has granted the distribution rights to Rounder, which currently focuses on rock releases. This somewhat complicated video is being quietly sold at Disk Union in Tokyo, particularly at their Shinjuku and Shibuya stores. Though the details of this discovery are unclear, it’s worth investigating.

But don’t you feel something, everyone? In recent years, particularly since around 1994, when “JAZZ 625” was released, various publishers have frequently featured Wes in their articles. As we mark 30 years since his death, it seems like the Wes boom is slowly coming back, which is delightful. How about it? Even Wes on the album cover seems to be smiling, sensing it!
