In 1961, Ralph Gleason recalled in an interview with Wes Montgomery, “It was easy to talk to Wes, but he became a different person when aware of the microphone. That’s why I regret not setting up a hidden microphone in my living room to record him unnoticed.”
In 1963, Ralph Gleason conducted another interview with Wes Montgomery because he felt that the 1961 interview was not satisfactory. The details of this interview are already introduced on this site.

In the 1962 DownBeat Magazine International Critics Poll, Coltrane was chosen as the top tenor saxophonist, significantly outpacing second-place Sonny Rollins. Similarly, Wes Montgomery was selected as the top guitarist, leaving second-place Barney Kessel far behind.
Wes was featured on the cover, though there wasn’t an article about him. For Coltrane, there was an interview article by a French journalist.
