In 1992, King (Paddle Wheel) released “Tribute to Wes Montgomery/Project G-7,” possibly inspiring a Canadian version following the success of the Japanese edition. Produced within Canada, the album features four guitarists selected for their influence by Wes Montgomery. Each guitarist was tasked with composing original pieces, while two were also requested to perform Wes’s compositions. Among the standout performances, Rob Piltch’s trio, presenting “Round Midnight” with an OGD lineup, was particularly impressive, showcasing skillful technique. However, overall, it fell short compared to “Project G-7.” The availability of the 1996 Canadian edition in Japan remains uncertain.
