Swiss Wes-inspired Guitarist

The other day, I happened to come across a title, “Wes’Side,” at an import record store in Osaka, and couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise. It felt like finding a gem after a long time, and upon closer inspection, I was astonished once again—it wasn’t an American artist but someone from Switzerland.
Nick Perrin, who lives in Zurich and is currently 26 years old, graduated from a jazz school in Switzerland a year ago. Since then, he has been working as a musician in clubs and festivals, and also teaches guitar at the jazz school.
I promptly received an email reply to my questions:
Q: Do you like Wes Montgomery?
A: Of course, I love him. This CD features a trio performance with Greek bassist Giorgos Antoniou and Swiss drummer Peter Horisberger, and I used the title “Wes’Side,” which I composed, as a tribute to Wes.
Q: You’re probably not widely known among fans in Japan yet. If you’d like, please share some details about yourself, and I’d like to feature you on my site.
A: I would be very grateful if you could feature my CD on your site. I hope to receive feedback and critiques about my work. I’m also curious about what’s happening in Japan.
The smooth sound seems to be well-polished. It’s evident that Nick has studied Wes’s techniques quite extensively. It’s definitely worth giving it a listen.
Dear YOSHIO TOKUI,
Thanks for your mail. I checked out your website a little bit.
It looks great, and there's much interesting information on it!
Unfortunately I can't read all the texts because we seem to have
a different sign system for european computers...
But anyway, I was very pleased to hear from Japan;
It wonderful how music can connect people from all over the world!
I live in Zurich, Switzerland and I'm 26 years old.
One year ago I graduated at the Swiss Jazz School, and since then
I'm working as a jazz musician mostly in Switzerland playing in
clubs and on festivals and teaching guitar at the Jazz School.
I'm also a big Wes Montgomery Fan, so I decided to name the first
record of my trio with greek bassplayer Giorgos Antoniou and
swiss drummer Peter Horisberger after a tune I wrote to pay
tribute to Wes("Wes'Side").
I'm very happy if you mention my CD on your homepage;
You can also put mycontact, I'm always interested to hear critics,
feedbacks and news from any place in the world!
In this mail you also find a a critic about my CD and a picture;
If you need more information, feel free to write anytime,
and of course I would be also
interested in what you are doing, and what's going on in Japan...
Sincerely
Nick Perrin
